EMDR Intensives
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain heal from distressing or traumatic experiences. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds) to help process memories that may feel “stuck.” This process allows the nervous system to move toward resolution and emotional relief, reducing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, and emotional reactivity.
I use either eye following or tapping, or a combination of both, depending on what feels most comfortable and effective for you.
Why an EMDR Intensive?
Traditional weekly therapy can be valuable, but sometimes deeper work requires more focused time and continuity than a standard 50-minute session allows. EMDR intensives offer extended, concentrated space to process one or more specific experiences in a single day or over a few days, allowing for more immediate relief and progress.
Many clients choose intensives when:
They want faster relief from distressing symptoms.
They’ve done therapy before and want to focus on a specific issue.
Scheduling weekly sessions is challenging.
They feel “stuck” and want to move forward in their healing.
Who It’s For:
EMDR intensives are appropriate for adults seeking focused healing from:
Past trauma or distressing life events
Anxiety, panic, or stress
Grief and loss
Relationship or attachment wounds
Barriers to personal growth or emotional regulation
The Process
Initial Intake (Required):
All EMDR intensive clients begin with a standard 55-60-minute intake (billed at the regular intake rate). This appointment helps us review your history, clarify your goals, and decide whether an EMDR intensive is appropriate.Planning & Preparation:
If we move forward, we’ll develop a personalized plan, discuss aftercare, and ensure you have tools to stay grounded and regulated before and after your session. The Intensive Session:
The 3-hour intensive is scheduled in a 3.5-hour block to allow short breaks.
The 6-hour intensive is scheduled in a 7-hour block and includes a 30-minute lunch break for us to recharge and refocus.
Both formats include time for grounding, integration, and debriefing throughout the session.
Follow-Up Session:
Each intensive includes a 50-minute follow-up session (included in the price) to discuss your experience, integrate insights, and plan next steps.
Available Options & Rates
3-Hour Intensive: $800
6-Hour Intensive: $1,600
Because EMDR intensives require advanced planning and dedicated time, a 50% deposit is required to schedule once we decide to move forward after your intake. The remaining balance must be paid in full before the session.
You may also schedule:
An additional 3-hour or 6-hour session if more processing time is needed.
Multiple days of intensive work (for example, two 3-hour sessions, three 3-hour days, or two 6-hour days). These options can be discussed and customized during your intake.
Scheduling & Availability
EMDR intensives must be scheduled well in advance, as I maintain a regular caseload of ongoing therapy clients. Availability is limited, and dates are reserved on a first-come basis once the deposit is received.
What to Expect
Each person’s experience with EMDR is unique. While many individuals notice significant relief and progress after an intensive, results cannot be guaranteed. Healing depends on many factors, including readiness, support systems, and the nature of the trauma being processed.
What you can expect is a safe, supportive, and focused environment designed to help you move toward healing in a structured and intentional way.
